Surgical orthodontic treatment and palate repair with tongue flap in a unilateral cleft lip and palate patient - a case report
This case report presented the management of an oronasal fistula (ONF) that developed after orthognathic surgery in a unilateral cleft lip and palate patient. Following postoperative maxillary relapse, bone graft loss, and ONF formation, comprehensive management including orthodontic compensation, meticulous oral hygiene control, and tongue flap reconstruction was performed. Dr. Yi-Hsuan Chen discussed the indications for segmental Le Fort I osteotomy, treatment strategies for ONF of different sizes, and salvage orthodontic approaches, highlighting the importance of multidisciplinary planning and individualized management for complex cleft patients.
